Delta Upsilon, since its founding date of November 4, 1834, has prided itself with a very rich history. When selecting new members to join our fraternity it is crucial that we select young men who show potential in all aspects of life and in our four founding principles: The Development of Character, The Promotion of Friendship, the Diffusion of Liberal Culture, and the Advancement of Justice. Selecting men who uphold or who already display an appreciation for our values will lead to a strong Delta Upsilon in the future. While our four founding principles are ideals and hard to measure at times, within each exists tangible actions identifying if a potential associate member displays the basic pillars of the fraternity. For Delta Upsilon to grow and thrive it is paramount that we recruit young men who show the drive and willpower to succeed in all facets of life.
Our recruitment process, in essence, allows us to ensure that the men we recruit will grow and proudly display the Fraternity’s moral, intellectual and social standards. Throughout the year we host many events that give recruits the opportunity to display worthiness to join in on the lifelong journey and ideals of Delta Upsilon. We also invite each potential member to join in small group activities to truly get to know them and ask them about their views on fraternities. Each pledge class is selected with the utmost care, making sure that a variety of men are included; therefore, each class will be provided with any and all opportunity to learn and develop. I look forward to watching the new members develop and permeate the core value of Delta Upsilon, Building Better Men!
Fraternally,
